A Reminder to Register for Your 2025/2026 BCWA Membership

ree

As we gear up for the 2025 West Coast Open, we want to remind all members that a valid 2025/2026 BCWA membership is required to participate or coach at the event. If you haven’t registered yet, now is the perfect time — especially with so many exciting competitions and development opportunities ahead this season.

Save time by registering early! As we get closer to the West Coast Open registration deadline, the system can slow down due to high traffic. Registering now ensures you’re ready for the season — without last-minute delays.

When signing up for the West Coast Open, you can register for both the tournament and your BCWA membership in one go — another great reason to register early.

Why Become a BCWA Member?

Your membership gives you access to a full season of events, training, and support, including:

  • Tournaments: Eligibility to compete in BCWA-organized and sanctioned events such as the West Coast Open, Western Age Class Championships, BCWA Provincial Championships, and more.

  • Camps & Development: Seasonal camps and provincial/performance development sessions.

  • Coaching & Officiating: Access to workshops, training, and certification opportunities.

  • Safe Sport & Insurance: Coverage in the event of injury — and essential proof of insurance required by many rental facilities.

  • National Championships: If you plan to attend the Canadian National Championships, PSO membership is mandatory — which is where your BCWA membership comes in.

Where Do My Membership Fees Go?

Your fees directly support the growth and sustainability of wrestling across British Columbia — from grassroots programs to the World and Olympic stage. Membership helps fund:

  • Programming for all ages and experience levels

  • Coaching and officiating development

  • Provincial development opportunities and seasonal camps

  • Tournament organization and execution across the province

  • Equipment, supplies, and insurance coverage to ensure safe participation

  • Staffing and administration to keep BC Wrestling running smoothly

  • National affiliation fees to Wrestling Canada Lutte (including participation at Canadian Championships and international events)

BC Wrestling also pays a significant annual insurance premium so that members can train and compete with proper protection. This coverage is a major benefit of your membership — and a requirement for many of the facilities that teams across the province rent for practice space.

We’re committed to keeping wrestling accessible and affordable, and BCWA continues to offer one of the lowest membership fees of any sport organization in Canada. Your membership is what allows us to maintain that commitment while expanding opportunities for athletes, coaches, and officials across the province.
