This is a friendly reminder to register for BCWA sanctioning and event registration for the upcoming Cadet, Junior, and Senior Wrestling Canada Lutte National Championships in Montreal, Quebec (May 28-30, 2026).

Registration Deadlines:

  1. BCWA Sanctioning deadline May 1st, 2026

  1. WCL Event Registration:

    1. Early Bird deadline at reduced cost May 1st, 2026 by 4:59 ET (1:59PM PST Vancouver Time)

    2. Standard Registration until May 8th, 2026 by 4:59pm ET (1:59PM Vancouver Time)

    3. Last chance registrations will be accepted until May 15th by 4:59pm ET (1:59PM PST Vancouver Time) but will be subject to a late fee

Please note, you will also be required to purchase a Wrestling Canada Lutte Participant License. "To support WCL’s various safe sport policies, systems and processes, including being a signatory of Abuse-Free Sport, WCL levied a safe sport participant fee. The fee ($50 CAD) is applicable to athletes, training partners, coaches, and team leaders once annually per calendar year," (WCL Participant License).

All athletes intending to participate must complete their BCWA sanctioning registration by May 1, 2026 (coaches, officials, and support staff do not require BCWA sanctioning, but must have a valid 2025/2026 BCWA membership and WCL participant license, and must register through the WCL event registration portal).

Understanding BCWA & WCL Registration Requirements

We understand that the registration process for nationals can be confusing, as it involves two separate organizations and 2mev registration portals.

  • BC Wrestling Association (BCWA) is the provincial sport governing body

  • Wrestling Canada Lutte (WCL) is the national sport governing body

To compete at the National Championships, all athletes must have all of the following:

  • Valid 2025/2026 BCWA membership

  • BCWA Sanctioning Registration

  • WCL Event Registration and participant license

The BCWA Sanctioning and WCL event registration are completed through separate registration portals, but both are required in order to step onto the field of play. The WCL participant license will pop up during your WCL event registration and will guide you through the appropriate steps.

BCWA is responsible for confirming that all participants from our province are in good standing (including membership and/or sanctioning) which is confirmed through BCWA Sanctioning, while WCL manages the official event registration.

We hope this helps to clarify any questions on sanctioning. If anyone has any questions, please reach out to us at info@bcwrestling.com and we would be happy to provide assistance or clarity.

What is the BCWA sanctioning fee for?

  1. This Payment is to cover the costs of sending the required amount of officials from B.C. to Nationals as required by WCL and CAWO (please refer to the CAWO Policy for further information: CAWO Policy)

  2. Each Provincial Sport Organization is required to send their quota of officials based on participant registrations and failing to do so results in a $1,500 fine by WCL and CAWO

We wish everyone the best of luck as they prepare to take to the national stage!
