Day 1 Recap: U19/U17/U15 National Championships

More than 700 wrestlers from across the country gathered in Grande Prairie, Alberta from April 24–26 for the 2026 U19, U17, and U15 National Championships hosted at the Design Works Centre - and Team BC made a statement on opening day.

The first day of competition featured U19 Women, U17 Women, and U17 Men, with BC athletes delivering incredible performances across all three divisions.
In the U19 Women’s division, BC captured the top provincial title with five national champions:
🥇 Iraabir Sooch (Canadian Mal WC) – 43kg
🥇 Melia Sheu (Coast Wrestling RTC) – 46kg
🥇 Kai Pare (Coast Wrestling RTC) – 61kg
🥇 Khushi Jhalli (Canadian Mal WC) – 69kg
🥇 Jolina Healey (Rhino WC) – 73kg
Coast Wrestling RTC was named top club in the division with 68 points, narrowly coming in second Canadian Mal Wrestling Club.
In the U17 Women’s division, BC once again claimed the top province award with six gold medalists:
🥇 Reet Toor (Miri Piri WC) – 49kg
🥇 Jaireet Bahy (Canadian Mal WC) – 53kg
🥇 Gurleen Dhillon (Canadian Mal WC) – 57kg
🥇 Jasmeet Pannu (Rustom WC) – 65kg
🥇 Tamn Mundi (Coast Wrestling RTC) – 69kg
🥇 Ambika Sehrawat (Khalsa Wrestling Club) – 80kg
Canadian Mal Wrestling Club captured the top team award with 27 points, while Gurleen Dhillon was named the division’s Most Outstanding Wrestler.
On the U17 Men’s side, BC earned the top provincial title once again with four national champions:
🥇 Lincoln Costello (Takedown Wrestling Academy) – 48kg
🥇 Brayden Zuback (Cowichan Valley WC) – 51kg
🥇 Samarpartap Singh (Coast Wrestling RTC) – 60kg
🥇 Harshawn Pandher (Guru Gobind Singh WC) – 80kg
Guru Gobind Singh Wrestling Club earned the top team award with 20 points, narrowly ahead of Coast Wrestling RTC with 19.
