The BC Secondary School Wrestling Association (BCSSWA) is one of 19 sport commissions represented within BC School Sports. They assist in the communication of governance for inter-school competition to BC School Sport member schools involved with wrestling, in preparation for the High School Championships
BC Wrestling services provided to registered club and school members:
Accident & liability ($5,000,000) insurance (including sanctioned events outside of school programs; camps, clinics, BC Games, nationals, practices)
Communication to member organizations via e-mail, of updates and events
Provide members recognition through the Awards & Scholarships
Provides resource material and information.
Access to Regional Centre athlete benefits, as well as coaches and training
Access to athlete camps; summer, spring break, Christmas
Access to national and international competition (cadet, juvenile, junior and senior)
Access to multi sport games - Canada and Western Canada Games, and Indigenous Games
Access to BC Summer Games and Northern BC Winter Games
Access to elite coaching provided through National Training Centre and Regional Centre coaches
The objectives of the BCSSWA to:
Foster and encourage wrestling in the Secondary Schools of British Columbia, and to encourage good sportsmanship and a high standard of conduct among all, athletes, coaches, officials and spectators;
Hold, conduct, and manage annual tournaments as may be duly authorized to sanction all such special events that conform to the rules and competition as may be necessary to determine entries for the annual Secondary School Championship;
Ensure that zones arrange such competition as may be necessary to determine entries for the annual Secondary School Championship;
Determine rules and regulations governing competing schools and athletes at the Secondary School Championship;
Co-operate with the B.C. Wrestling Association and BC School Sports in the best interest of the Association.
