BC Wrestling Overview The BC Wrestling Association became incorporated as a registered non-profit society in 1979. We are the provincial sport governing body for amateur wrestling in British Columbia. Our parent organization is the Canadian Amateur Wrestling Association, who provides leadership to amateur wrestling in Canada. The BC Wrestling Association is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors that is comprised of a cross section of twenty community members from across the province, with representation from the athletes, coaches and officials. Our Board of Directors set the policy and direction of the Association. To support the association's efforts, there are over 300 volunteers who serve as coaches and officials, and who liaise with the community. Province wide there are approximately 2,600 registered members of the BC Wrestling Association - male and female wrestlers, coaches and officials. BC Wrestling mission statement Our goal as an organization, is to move forward by becoming more self sustaining, expanding on grass roots participation and programs, and to enable more male and female participants (athletes, coaches & officials) elite opportunities by 2008 and beyond. We will continue to improve upon our successes at all levels. Our purpose as the Provincial Sport Organization for wrestling in BC. Please review BC Wrestling Vision & Value statements |
